Olivier bruaux redacteur en chef www.cinephoto.fr www.ilovecinema.frWoody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, a romantic comedy featuring France’s First Lady Carla Bruni- Sarkozy will open Cannes Film Festival. Although the non-actress ex-top model was unofficially imposed for a cameo in the movie in exchange of tax-cuts, it is now obvious that this "ouverture" selection will be a parading occasion for a president that has valued a continuous taste for show-off appearances. The red carpet will be made ’redder’ for him and his Carlita as he loves to call her in public.

Will show-business be the solution for his terribly low-ranking popularity before the next presidential election? Well, for sure, anti-Sarkosy opponents will see this as a new offensive "mélange des genres" of a bling-bling clan.

Let us just hope that Woody Allen’s movie will be at the center of the evening, with its real Hollywood stars on top of the stairs.

Midnight in Paris / Minuit à Paris, a movie by Woody Allen with Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard, Michael Sheen.
